My husband and I were lucky to find Cedar Run Farm three years ago. After looking for three years, we discovered the challenges of finding the right property for us. We thought we had to have at least 60 acres because we have envisioned boarding along with training and breeding. Much too big of dream!!!
Cedar Run Farm wasn’t the perfect property we thought we had to find. Therefore it has been a loving work in progress. Only 15 acres, yet we feel like 15 acres is more than enough for what we have really determined to be important to us and what type of lifestyle we want to live. No boarding, not much training and only one year of breeding so far. Three foals last year in the hot summer months really took the wind out of our sails. We were very sad to loose one foal only after 24 hours and we spent 3 weeks keeping another one healthy while trying to keep her hydrated after being sick for quite some time. The effort was well worth it, you can see from the pictures, Chantel, has prospered and become quite the happy go lucky filly running around terrorizing the other horses. While we have had lots of opportunity to board we have chosen not to at this time and enjoy our privacy and freedom to come and go as we please. So as you can see our original vision has drastically changed, I think in a positive way for us.
We spent the first year refurbishing the barns and arena and building a guest house, which we lived in while building yet another dream house. As we get older we keep downsizing and hopefully we will get even smarter in the future and downsize again should we ever move. We did want to build the farm with resale in mind as we have done with all our homes in the past, therefore we built our home to be commiserate with the size of the property and equestrian amenities. Real estate has been the safest and smartest investment we have made over the last several years.
Life at Cedar Run Farm is a busy and active lifestyle and one we hope will keep us young and provide many days of pleasure for us, our friends, family and animals.
My goal is to help my clients find their dream home, no matter what size or price and even if they are only looking for a short term home or investment. I also am committed to assisting my clients in making good financial decisions or good future investments when they are looking for a new home, whether it is a lake property or horse farm. So far, both types of properties have been good investments for us. While we may not find exactly what you have envisioned, I can provide you with resources and contacts to make any changes or additions that may be needed when you do find “the” property.
